The Space Operations Company
USA is a Limited Liability Company (LLC), equally owned by The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA) and Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE:LMT). Formed in 1996, it consolidated more than 30 heritage contracts that supported the Space Shuttle Program. Our successes include work on the Space Flight Operations contract (SFOC) and its follow-on, the Space Program Operations Contract (SPOC). For more than 15 years under these contracts, we served as NASA's primary industry partner in human space operations for the day-to-day management of the Space Shuttle fleet, as well as planning, training and operations for 55 Space Shuttle missions and more than 35 International Space Station (ISS) increments.
Our performance record speaks for itself:
- Met NASA's major mission objectives 99% of the time on the Space Flight Operations Contract and Space Program Operations Contract.
- Delivered 99.5% of the Shuttle hardware without deficiencies; achieved 99% on-time product delivery.
- Developed a world-class Supply Chain Management System that controlled more than 1.3 million spare parts for the Space Shuttle and ISS Programs.
- Trained more than 400 astronauts and astronaut candidates using a dynamic blend of classroom lessons and workbooks, computer-based training, stand-alone simulator training and integrated team simulations.
United Space Alliance received NASA's highest honor for quality and performance - the George M. Low Award - which recognized our commitment to teamwork, safety, customer service, and technical and managerial excellence. We also won the prestigious 2009 Robert J. Collier Trophy from the National Aeronautic Association for our work on the ISS Team.
Now, leveraging our unique operations expertise, United Space Alliance supports the long-term use of the ISS, crew and cargo transportation solutions.
