Joseph W. Hammond

Vice President, Business Development

Joe Hammond currently serves as Vice President of Business Development for United Space Alliance and is responsible for the development of strategies and the implementation of specific actions to position the company and capture new business initiatives.

Hammond joined USA as Vice President of Human Resources and Administration at the company’s inception in 1996, with additional responsibilities for Communications and Public Relations, Training and Development, Facilities and Security, Policy and Procedures, and Ethics. In November 2002, he also was made responsible for Strategic Planning and Business Development and served in that capacity until November 2004 when he assumed his current post. Prior to that position, Hammond served as Vice President of Human Resources for Rockwell’s Graphic Systems Division. Appointed to that position in October 1994, Hammond provided leadership for all Human Resources, Business Planning and Facilities activities, both domestic and international operations within the division.

Prior to joining Rockwell in 1980 as Director of Human Resources for the Switching Systems Division, Hammond had served in a number of management positions at Frito-Lay, Bendix and General Telephone. He served as head of Human Resources for Switching Systems until May 1990, at which time he assumed the position of director, Human Resources, for Rockwell Space Operations Company, a position he held until 1994.

Hammond has received many honors including NASA’s Public Service Medal, awarded in 1994.
