H. Neal Hammond

Vice President, Exploration Programs,

Neal Hammond is Vice President, Exploration Programs and Strategic Planning, at United Space Alliance. He also serves as Deputy for USA Business Development. Hammond is responsible for development of the USA Strategic Plan and the strategic planning process, as well as for advocacy of USA’s business strategy for Exploration Programs. In his business development role, he is responsible for supporting the implementation of USA’s strategic plan through the capture, pursuit and proposal processes.

Prior to his current position, Hammond served as Vice President and Associate Program Manager, Program Integration. He was responsible for Space Shuttle system engineering and integration, payload/cargo integration, and International Space Station Program Office support. He also previously served as Program Director, Government Programs, for Rockwell Houston Operations and as Director of Systems and Cargo Engineering for Rockwell’s Space Systems Division.

Hammond has worked in the Space Shuttle Program since its inception over 25 years ago. He also has held positions in Space Station and advanced programs. He has worked as an engineer in integrated thermal analysis, environmental control and life support systems, and test and evaluation of Space Station hardware.

Hammond holds bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering and political science from the University of Texas. He is a long-time member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the National Management Association.
