The cornerstone of USA’s business is the safe and successful operation of our programs. The safety of the public, the work force and crew, the national treasures entrusted to us, and our environment is our priority. Our Safety and Quality Policy statement, Products and Services for Space Operations- Safe, On Time, and Error Free, clearly outlines USA's commitment to our customers and our employees.
The USA Quality Management System (QMS) is the business operating system for producing products and services. The USA QMS is certified to both the ISO 9001 and the AS9100 International Standards. ISO 9001 requires that standardized business practices be put in place to support the production of products and services in a consistent and reliable manner. AS9100 adds additional aerospace requirements for reliability and safety.
USA believes that employees have the right to a safe and healthful work environment. Our company policy ensures that employees can report unsafe or unhealthy conditions, without fear of reprisal, and can stop work or refuse to enter an unsafe work environment. In an effort to demonstrate our commitment to employee safety and health, USA has obtained OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star certification at all of our operating sites. The OSHA VPP is a cooperative effort between OSHA, employees, unions, and management to achieve a safer and healthier work environment that exceeds the minimum requirements of general OSHA compliance.
USA is also committed to being an excellent steward of the environment. Our processing operations, performed at the Kennedy Space Center, take place on 140,000 acres of the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. USA's goal is to go beyond environmental regulation compliance by placing strong emphasis on preventing pollution, promoting recycling, preserving natural resources, and eliminating or minimizing wastes. This dedication reaches further than compliance with the law to encompass the integration of sound environmental practices into everyday business decisions.
