STS-61B Atlantis launched November 26, 1985. The crew included Brewster H. Shaw, Jr. (Commander), Bryan D. O'Connor (Pilot), Mary L. Cleave (Mission Specialist 1), Sherwood C. Spring (Mission Specialist 2), Jerry L. Ross (Mission Specialist 3), Rodolfo Neri Vela (Payload Specialist 1), and Charles D. Walker (Payload Specialist 2).
During the mission three communications satellites deployed: MORE LOS-B (Mexico), AUSSAT-2 (Australia) and SATCOM KU-2 (RCA Americom). Spring and Ross constructed the ACCESS tower while in orbit to test procedures for building the Space Station Freedom. The shuttle landed December 3, 1985 at Edwards Air Force Base, California.
