USA was presented with Houston Minority Business Council’s (HMBC’s) Prime Supplier Award and Corporate Commitment Award at its EXPO 2005 held in Houston Nov. 30.
The Prime Supplier Award is presented to the supplier with the best minority business development program based on commitment, innovations and expenditures with minority business enterprises.
“Over the years, we’ve set ambitious goals for minority business involvement, and we’ve dedicated significant resources to meeting those goals,” said Don Herring, USA’s Deputy Director of Procurement and Subcontracts.
“Those efforts have resulted in USA spending nearly $2 billion with small business since the inception of SFOC.”
The Corporate Commitment Award recognizes the corporation or government agency that, in the opinion of minority business owners, has best evidenced its commitment to minority business development during the past year.
“We were so honored to be recognized by HMBC and the small businesses who nominated us,” said Cheryl Linville, USA’s small business Liaison Officer West. “USA has established challenging small business goals. I’ve been so impressed by the energy level and enthusiasm of the entrepreneurs I’ve been in contact with.”
Linville was nominated as Professional Services Advocate of the Year, and USA Employees Jean Moncayo and Jan Williams were both nominated as Advocate of the Year.
